I know this got posted a long time ago on MU (it was in the Studio Album forum) - can someone upload to mediafire? I've never had this but since I listen mostly on my Ipod I thought I'd like the mix better...
Thanks!

Re: Guitar Hero 3 Version of Death Magnetic
I can't remember what was talking in this forum about GH3 version, did you mean the Marc and Moderus mixes of the DM?

Re: Guitar Hero 3 Version of Death Magnetic
Thanks I'll check these out....I was looking for the version that was written about soon after the release of DM and people were complaining about the compressed dynamic range of the mix on the CD and online versions of the album (e.g. clipping and distortion)- some guy in Europe wrote an article where he said the GH version had a much better dynamic range?
This discusses the issue:

I was an infrequent lurker when this was going on, so I wondered if anyone ever posted the GH version of DM...I don't play GH, I just wanted it for the better mix for listening.
Thanks!

you're weolcome...ok, Mark and Moderus are guys that used the GH3 tracks and making these versions, as you saw 3 times, they keep going this thing still in Metallica forum, but I stopped downloading new versions, enough new mixes for me, a guy nicked MarkBryston had got mixes and applied different processes on trax, too.

I can upload just the GH3 version, untouched and original, if you like.

That would be great, I'd love to check out the untouched version to compare.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Guitar Hero 3 Version of Death Magnetic
I hope this isn't a stupid question - what program do I need to be able to view these files? WinAmp can play FLAC files...but what do I have to do with the files to get them to play...and/or convert them to MP3?

Re: Guitar Hero 3 Version of Death Magnetic
I play and convert files with foobar2000 http://www.foobar2000.org/.
Right click the flac file in foobar and convert it to wave first.
Again load the wave file in foobar, right click it and convert it to mp3.
You need to have a mp3 encoder installed, i use lame http://lame.sourceforge.net/.
