is there any way of downloading any of that stuff without paying? 'Cause the file sharing sites don't allow free members to download anything (or am i missing something?)

There should be, I downloaded many times there for free.. They usually host things on NetLoad, FileSonic (gone now), FileServer, FilePost and RapidShare and they all offer free downloads (limited to a certain point).
