yea, i miss jason too. i like robert, but jason was always into getting the fans really involved. plus his bass solos were just so nice to listen too. and he s a better backup vocalist. i dont like roberts bass playing too much, especially the solos.

^ I love Jason too, for me he will always be a part of Metallica, but Rob may well be the most talented bass guitarist alive. I love his fills and doodles. As for getting fans involved, when I saw them in London last week, during the interlude before the encores, Rob walked out off the stage right down to the barriers to shake hands with some of the audience. You can't get much more involved than that!

too many things have been going by and too many words have been said... i dont think that jason should be back again. but i respect him a lot and i love his style, his skills and his personality.

and: i think this is one-time reunion was respectfully and humanly outsanding.

Jason and Rob are completely different bass players but both awesome. Metallica are lucky to have two such great bass players. Even more luckier to have had Cliff in the band back in the day

jason is good and so is robert. Robert plays more like cliff does in his technique and sound and jason has a power house backup.

thank-you.im one of the few who believes Jason had his time, and now Rob is in.im already tired of the rumours of Jason coming back.i understand alot of ppl didnt get into Metallica til Jason was in the band.but he moved on,though at times in his interviews,it sounds like he really hasnt.i respect Jason for all he brought in,and he was the right person at the time to step in when Cliff passed on.i would never discredit him for anything he did with Metallica.but simple truth is....Rob is the bass player now, they moved on,its been 7 years now(?).it was nice to see old wounds healing with everyone, and this one time reunion.this was a very good moment in Metallica history, but until Metallica outright says Rob is out,and Jason is back,(which i dont see),lets just enjoy the moment for as special as it was,and not cheapen it. :headbang:

I thought it was a classy move to invite him, and a unique and classy moment to have him play along with Robert.

Why bother comparing? I think the jury is out. Yes, Jason was great with the backing vocals. Rob is a better bass player. Particularly in relation to filling Cliff's shoes. Jason was better at backing vocals than Cliff was too, but I don't think anyone would vote for Jason over Cliff.

I loved the whole performance, minus that god awful backing track fuck-up. I thought from the start they would do a classic heavier tune and a TBA tune, or just do a medley.

The train kept a rolling thing was cool as hell.

Side Note: For some odd reason I've never paid one lick of attention to Jeff Beck. Damn he's a helluva player. I'm gonna have to check out some of his music.
