This was a road-trip from Dayton to Chicago by three Trouble fans who were desperate to
check on the status of one of our favorite bands. Trouble had parted ways with Eric, and
Kyle Thomas had been announced as the new singer. This was the first gig, a large diverse
expo-type event in an even larger(way too big) venue. Kyles' band Floodgate were one of the days earlier acts, as were Wet Animal - Rick Wortells' project. I recorded only portions of those sets, and have never put them to CD, as they are less than spectacular.
While the Kyle Thomas thing didn't work out in the end(four gigs total), this was one instance
where it DID work. On this night, Kyle is a "barely able to contain myself" fanboy, gushing love for all things "Trouble". He sings with a passion which lets you know that he knew these song backwards and forwards, and that he was grateful to be chosen. Quite a contrast to the new singer debacle.
The biggest contrast to what's happening now, however, is the reaction by the fans(Chicagoan long-timers and us Dayton dedicated) during the gig. At the Chicago show which I am now uploading, the band were debuting a new singer. We already knew that Kyle didn't really sound a lot like Eric, so we went with a bit of cautious skepticism. But when you listen to this show, you'll clearly be able to tell that the band had erased any doubts, and that we fans were delirious with pleasure. We are fucking ape-shit happy. By comparison, I've yet to hear of any fans expressing any pleasure while seeing the new line-up.
Although he later flaked out to a degree, during this show, Kyle HONORED the legend that was Trouble by knowing the lyrics, knowing the songs, singing them properly(to the best of his abilities), and treating the whole experience as if it were a privilege. This show ROCKED!

101.INTRO by Ron Jeremy
102.R.I.P.
103.THE SLEEPER
104.FEAR
105.AT THE END OF MY DAZE
106.COME TOUCH THE SKY
107.HAIR OF DOG (INTRO)/'SCUSE ME

109.BLACK SHAPES OF DOOM

Big-eyed '"Oh my God" looks were exchanged as the band played the intro to "Borrowed Time", but it was only a cruel, extended tease. Sigh.

I'm pretty sure this was Kyle Thomas' 1st show with Trouble.

I was hoping they'd give him a call when Eric Wagner left last year. He was way better than Kory Clarke
