Opening night of the tour at Starland! Scott Warren (Dio/Heaven and Hell) filled in for Josh on the keyboards.
I couldn't here the keyboards very much, but it looked like Scott was having fun. It was the first time I have
never seen Pete drinking a bottle of wine. He was just drinking Gatorade this time, maybe he is on a diet?
Anyway, they sounded great this night and I am pretty happy with the recording. I have "misplaced" my Sound
Professionals battery box, but luckily had made a battery pack a few years ago and used it instead. It seemed
to work way better than I thought it would.
The reason I gave this the title "Epic Fail", is because that during the last song Kenny's stack was knocked
over by some girls that were hanging out on stage. I just watched the stack tip over, like in slow motion, as
it fell over. This "blond" chick, who must be Kenny's girl, was near the scene of the accident the whole night. I
guess she must have been dancing or what ever and some how knocked the stack over and acted like it wasn't her
fault. Kenny was giving her the evil eye as he and his crew tried to get things working again. After the show I
saw him having a "conversation" with her and I can only imagine what he said.It must have been half way through
the encore when the stack fell over and there is just little to no guitar during the last half of the song.
Kenny and the crew tried frantically to get his gear back up and running, but it just wasn't happening. I felt
real bad for Kenny because he looked like he really wanted to finish the last song on a good note for the crowd
that night.
Even with the epic fail, it was a really good show and we were all glad to see and hear them back at Starland.
I hope you all enjoy this first show of the tour and I hope that some other shows will show up here on Dime.
