This is the earliest known recording of Europe to have surfaced, and, apart from the Force-gig and Force-demos, is the only material available prior to the Rock-SM-contest which they won in december. The sound is distorted, it starts out ok but after a minute of the first song it goes into overload. Maybe the mic broke down or something, in any case it´s absolutely listenable and historically significant of course.
The gig contains one of the few known recordings of The King Will Return, it was played here, on Rock-SM and then a short piece of it was played in the fall of 1986 in a medley. After that I only know of three more recordings (two from 2004 and one from 2005). It´s one of my fav songs so I cherish all recordings of it
Great to hear early Europe, I have three gigs from 1983 aswell (Lövestad, Jönköping and Guldsmedshyttan) but I´m always looking for new gigs or upgrades/known gens of the ones I have.
Lastly, this gig is normally named "Skytteholm 1982". Skytteholm is a part of Stockholm, it´s not a town of it´s own. Kinda like writing "Kensington, UK" instead of London or "Greenwich Village, NY" instead of New York City. Just to clear that one up.
