Notes:

This was a free show at the Mid-State Fair and it had a fantastic turnout (security even blocked off the entrances/exits so that no one could come or go once the show started). The main grandstand act at the fair that day was Aerosmith, so a lot of people going to that were at this BOC set (people got so excited when the personalized Aerosmith tour buses went by around 7pm). This was my first BOC show. The closest I came to seeing them prior to this was circling the old Pismo Theatre in Pismo Beach when they played there over 20 years ago (it was so loud!). But this Paso show was amazing and a real highlight was watching Buck play. I'm only sorry I couldn't have stayed and grabbed the second show at 8:30pm (Bloom mentioned they'd be doing some different songs during that set).

My Zoom's Mic In died days before this show, so I had to use the Zoom's internal mics (sorry!). There was a terrible wind and it caused some phasing due to the hanging stacks constantly swaying (despite the fact they were even tied down). I was also on an aisle, so there's additional phasing from people constantly walking by (during "The Golden Age Of Leather," some of those people were talking, so there's a bit of audience noise there). "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" has the worst phasing, blocking and audience noise. Another issue was that Buck's mic wasn't immediately on at the beginning of "The Golden Age Of Leather" and it ended up sounding like a glitch on his vocal.

Before the show, I was sitting in a more centered location, but I moved after two men and a young boy sat in front of me and the boy kept demanding ice cream and screaming in his dad's ear (I thought that was a disaster waiting to happen). So I moved way off to the extreme right where the crowd was pretty mellow, but somewhat talkative in the background. There are also some points to mention: the men behind me talked loudly once (prior to "The Shooting Shark"); there was an incident in "Buck's Boogie" when a bunch of police came in and took someone away for smoking pot (Bloom refers to this afterwards); and someone in the front of my section had a cowbell, but he only used it during the appropriate song and played in time (you can hear a bit of it :)
