Hello,

New to this board, but already loving it. I came here because I was looking for an audio recording of the Metallica Show from the Ionia Free Fair, Ionia, Michigan from 6-24-94. I've been looking for this show for years as I was there! I joined here and found this link immediately, which thrilled me:

This link worked, and I downloaded the show. I've been listening, but this doesn't seem like this is actually from the Ionia Free Fair on 6-24-94. I mention this because, as I said, I was there, and I remember clearly that the opening acts were Danzig and Suicidal Tend. In the recording, before Harvest of Sorrow, James asks the crowd if they enjoyed Candlebox and Fight. These were not the two opening bands at the Ionia Free Fair show. I remember everything about that day including the piss poor weather--it rained all day and after the show, because the parking situation was all in fields and on grass lands many many cars got stuck in the mud. It was a nightmare leaving that show that night. My friends and I got our car stuck in the mud and some nice older guy helped push us out!

Anyhow, does anything have any more information on this? Am I missing something here? Or, at best, does anyone have a link that I can download the actual Ionia Free Fair show from 6-24-1994 show from? I'm desperate to re-live this day in my history. Any help would be much appreciated.

The only known version of Ionia was taped by The Govner and this is what his info file says:

This show is what I would call "Mudstock" as it did nothing but rain all day and all night! I stole a rain poncho and somehow managed to get a decent recording without ruining my equipment. It was raining so hard I'm somewhat surprised that the show went on as it was non-stop and there had to be some risk of electrocution!

On actual recording and James mentions Suicidal Tendencies and Danzig right before Harvey, so the one you linked is surely fake/wrong just like you said.

Hey, thanks for sending me the correct link! Glad to finally have this show. Strange though too, one thing I clearly remember is Metallica playing a quick medley of Misfits songs that included Green Hell at this show too, but it's missing from the audio. Does anyone have any ideas on this? I mean, I remember this clear as day. And yes, God!, it was so piss poor rainy and wet. Everyone was drenched. And it was just this constant drizzle the entire show.

JumpInTheFIre...The lossless link you send is to the wrong show. Before Harvester James makes reference to opening bands FIght and Candlebox. And neither Fight nor Candlebox opened for them in Ionia on 6-24-94. The openers were Danzig and Suciidal. Does anyone have a link to the correct recording??

I'm confused... I didn't send you a link to any lossless show. All I did was provide you with KoalKoalson's link to his thread that has over 1,800+ shows in lossy.
