Skeletonwitch is a thrash/black metal band from Athens, Ohio. They are currently signed to Prosthetic Records. They are considered part of the "thrash revival" era along with Warbringer, Toxic Holocaust, and Municipal Waste. Skeletonwitch's vocals are characteristically in the death metal/black metal vein, with Chance Garnette performing both the guttural shouts and the higher pitched shrieks. These vocals are considered by some to be somewhat at odds with the mostly NWOBHM-influenced guitar riffs and solos. Others see it as a hearkening back to the early thrash metal of Europe. However severe the music itself may seem, the band also employs the use of melodies.
